The police chief at Utah Valley University — who has taken the brunt of the blowback over how few campus officers were present when conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was shot and killed — has stepped down.

The chief of police at Utah Valley University has resigned just over a year after the deadly shooting of Charlie Kirk on campus.

Kirk's widow, Erika Kirk, asked the court to "enforce the right to a speedy disposition" and set the trial for as early as possible in 2027.
